Have you seen those pretty little collages of words at the sides of web pages?  They’re called “clouds”, and while I’ve been appreciating them for their decorative contribution, I didn’t really think about their educational value until I met Wordle.

This amazing little site lets you input any words you like, then morph the collection into a cool word cloud.  Change the background, color scheme, and shape of the words and get a visual pop of vocabulary goodness.

We tried this for our Lewis & Clark unit…

It’s practically a concrete poem!  Imagine using your vocabulary words, spelling list, key ideas from a unit, or just letting kids come up with their own Wordle wonder.  Now go get a cloud of your own!
